Florida is obviously a great place for the beach, and a golf cart is a wonderful way to explore your favorite coastal areas. It’s important to prepare the cart, though, so that you don’t get stuck on the sand. Here’s what you need to do.

1. Upgrade Your Engine

First, the engine on your golf cart may not have the power that you need to ride on the sand without an upgrade. A 48V engine should give you sufficient power for beach riding. Also, a gas golf cart may be better than an electric golf cart because they tend to be more powerful in general.

2. Add Accessories

Adding some accessories to your golf cart can also make it better for riding on the beach. Windshields will keep flying sand from hitting your eyes or face. Zip-on or metal doors are also a good option to protect you from strong ocean winds. Side mirrors will help you improve visibility.

3. Put on Sand Tires

Your average golf cart tires aren’t going to be very good for riding on sand. Swap them out with special all-terrain tires or sand tires that can get better traction on slippery sandy surfaces. You’ll need to switch the tires out again before you ride your golf cart on a different type of terrain, though, so keep that in mind.
